“Close Enough To Whisper” by Blind Man’s Daughter: Simply amazing prog rock fused with hip hop!

Blind Man’s Daughter is a melodic progressive metal band from Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA– and is quickly making a mark in the scene with their sound, and their ability to bend genre to their will. Alive and kicking since 2012 under the leadership of Ashley Wolfe, keep reading for my thoughts on their latest single, “Close Enough to Whisper”!

While they’re kit out to be a progressive metal band, “Close Enough To Whisper” takes a bit of an interesting turn from the get go– with its reliance on electronic percussion laid atop the guitar work, all wrapped up in a nice hip-hop style beat. Glad to report this style quite works throughout the song, I’ll also go on to say that there’s chemistry that shines through between the percussion and the melody quite nicely, and this remains a highlight for the runtime of the track.

The vocals are smooth and angelic, and they dot the song with melodic complexity that comes through with Ashley’s high vocals with an ever-so-crunchy sound to it, which adds some grit and power to the performance, forming a rare combination of power as well as melodic coherence throughout the song. “Close Enough To Whisper” is easily one of those tracks, and that is an excellent thing.

When it comes to the production, Blind Man’s Daughter decide to take a bit of an experimental route with the sound design, and I’m glad to report that this comes out sounding interesting no matter the time of the day you choose to listen to it. This is also all quite nicely wrapped up by the mix and master that takes care of the dynamics excellently well, and creates a nice, cohesive and tight sound.

All in all, it can be safely said that “Close Enough To Whisper” is a track with poise and power, and leaves an impact like few others. Check out the track here!
