‘Senderus Memorius’: Movements
‘Senderus Memorius 1’ is a short introduction of sorts that acclimitises us to the sonic timbre of piece as a whole. It’s plucky groove forms this base which is layered over by rough, cutting strings that seem to build. Each element in this short track adds this plucking, cutting, quick roughness,textures that feel fitting for the piece.
‘Senderus Memorius 2’ takes on a darker tone, which slowly builds in deep cascades. A bass-like pluck leads the charge before tremulous strings add this dark sort-of flourish that seems to persist through the rest of the piece. This cascading spiral seems be moving upwards but never quiet makes it out.
‘Senderus Memorius 3’ keeps up the deep mood of the last movement. This while bringing back this lively pluckiness that was present in the short introduction. There’s this clear sense of intrigue in this part, which allows all the elements of the piece to coalesce and mingle, really setting the tone of the piece as a whole.
‘Senderus Memorius’ brings all these movements together, allowing the full experience of the piece to flow through. From the tease of the fully realised build to the dark depths each movement leads us through, ‘Senderus Memorius’ by Patricio Franzi is allowed to cascade in. This while leaving a pretty lasting impact on the listener.
In the final track, every element seems to pop out with more clarity, allowing the composition’s influence to shine through. Rough, cutting, quick, moody and whole.
