In his latest release, the valiant Macklemore openly raps about ceasing fire in Palestine and sings lines against those who are keeping silent in these critical times. The new song is called ‘Hind’s Hall’, named after the Columbia University Building which the students recently renamed from Hamilton’s Hall. As a protest against the horrific death of Hind Rajab, the 6-year-old Palestinian girl, the students of the University occupied, reclaimed and renamed the building in her honour.
Macklemore’s uproar
Although this is not the first time Macklemore’s music has spoken up on socio-political issues. The song ‘Hind’s Hall’ serves as a rallying cry for the pro-Palestine protest. Along with Saint Levant’s ‘from Gaza, with love’, Billie Holiday’s ‘Strange Fruit’ and Crosby, Stills, and Nash & Young’s ‘Ohio’. The lyrics of Hind’s Hall does not shy away from calling out at the American politicians and the profit mongering systems that are playing the sick war games of geo-politics. Macklemore even takes his stance on the Music industry and critics it openly for remaining silent in a situation that demands voices to speak-up.

It’s a reminder that there is immense strength in art to ignite the minds of those who remain in a manipulated and false reality of division among humans. Macklemore with his latest release is advocating for justice and standing up for those who need help. The artist has pledged that all the earnings from this song will be donated to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
