The melody and lyrics spread optimism – it’s the kind of song that makes you believe anything is possible. When it comes on, I can’t help but want to dance around and soak in the positivity.
“Joy Ride” by Shasau takes you on a blissful musical journey. Layer upon layer of synth textures is expertly woven together, from the crispy beats providing forward momentum to the dreamier atmospherics transporting your mind. As it draws you deeper into a relaxed trance, tension melts away. Over four serene minutes, it achieves a true meditative calm. when you need some anxiety relief, I am sure the soothing synth work in this track cannot fail to do the trick.
“Slow Lee” has a mesmerizing introduction with lush, hypnotic synth pads and hushed vocals floating over the top. When the beats gradually come in, it sets a chilled vibe that’s perfect for getting lost in the groove. There’s an effortless flow to how the EDM-inspired beats lift and fall, keeping you engaged without overwhelming the meditative atmospherics. On a dimly lit night with just headphones, this dreamy track transports you to a completely relaxed state.
“Narmada” draws from diverse global influences with beats that have an Indian flair. Hypnotic synth tones create an undersea ambiance at points. The rhythm is hip-shaking but never overly bombastic, allowing space for the intriguing sounds and melodic passages to unfold slowly. Each new element keeps things interesting and pulls you deeper into the trippy vibe. “Okavango” flows beautifully from the last song’s trippy vibes. Some happening beats and melodic riffs develop with a cool Arabic flair, quickly pulling me deeper into the groove. Layer upon shimmering layer builds an intensely blissful headspace. Just as I feel completely immersed in euphoria, it takes a dark, unsettling turn that catches me wildly off guard. Eerie synth washes sweep in with a genuinely eerie cinematic quality. The unpredictable shift from joyous rave-up to unnerving atmosphere gives it a real edge and intrigue.
“Slipping Into Sleep” really pulls you in from the get-go. As those deep, echoey beats start to pulse underneath the swelling synths, it’s like you can feel your consciousness starting to drift. The way the textures blur and morph together is super trippy – I can almost picture abstract shapes and colors taking form behind my closed eyes. It’s the perfect balance of lulling you into a trance but still keeping your mind buzzing underneath. Really unique vibe that takes you somewhere else.

Then “Endemic Flower” by Shasau comes on, and what a ride! From the moment those retro synths sweep in, it just pulls you into this incredibly cinematic sound world. The layers of synth are so lush and full that it’s like being totally surrounded by sound. When those electronic elements develop the beat later on, it adds this punchy element that takes it up a notch. And hose flute accents sprinkled in the second half are a gorgeous addition. The way all the elements fit together so seamlessly, revealing new layers with every listen, is just masterful. Out of all the great tracks on this album, this one really stands out as the epic centerpiece for me.
“Godvari” is an immersive listen that benefits from headphones. It gradually builds layers of sound, from beats to subtle digital textures that come together to form an ambient soundscape. The evolving tones and rhythms keep you engaged throughout. “Argentum” also stands out with its atmospheric elements. Ethereal vocals enhance an already hypnotic instrumental track. While understated, it invites the listener to sink into the mood it creates.
“Here Goes Nothing” has an upbeat, hopeful vibe with jungly instrumentals that put a smile on your face. The melodies lift your spirits and make your heart feel light. It conveys an optimistic message to grab opportunities and keep on trying even in uncertain times.
“Sky Brook” by Shasau brings the album to a mellow, contemplative close. Hazy synths and atmospheric sounds transport the listener to a tranquil, mysterious place in their mind. It has a meditative quality that allows reflection on the themes explored in the earlier tracks. This peaceful finale is a nice way to end such a versatile collection of songs on an artistic, cinematic note.
